GOAL: Support And Protect Access to a World Class Education for Second Language Learners
NABE came to be so that second language learners would receive a world class education. In the beginning, the protections in this respect were non-existent. Through our efforts, in collaboration with others, we advocated for laws, guidelines, and finding that would promote equity for second language learners in our schools. In the past, the activities associated with this goal have been NABE's bedrock. In the future, they will continue and strengthen the Association's legislative and advocacy efforts - underscoring the importance of this part of our work.
MISSION: NABE's mission is to advocate for our nation's Bilingual and English Language Learners and families and to cultivate a multilingual multicultural society by supporting and promoting policy, programs, pedagogy, research and professional development that yield academic success, value native language, lead to English proficiency, and respect cultural and linguistic diversity.
